It's always best to keep them separated, but honestly it's just different for every dog. Use your best judgement on characteristics they've shown in the past.

I have a 6mo old Min Pin in heat. I also have a 2 year old boxer that got fixed about 6 months ago. When we leave for work, we put them in a kennel together in the shop. Do I need to worry about them being together while we are at work, or will they be ok since he is fixed?

Yes, this is common when you're dealing with a multiple dog household when one is in heat. Getting her fixed sooner than later will help stop this behavior before it becomes a severe habit.

My almost 8 year old spayed poodle still goes into heat. She is in heat right now and is peeing in my house, on my couch, in other places when she goes potty outside. We have a 6 month old yorkie-poo bitch who hasnt had her first heat yet but my older poodle acts very frustrated with her when she is in heat. Could the peeing be from the heat cycle?

other than being in heat she has no other symptoms. the heat cycle is just about done so i was just going to wait alittle bit longer to see if the glands go back to normal. but if they don't i guess i'll just take her to the vet. thank you for the response.

Is she having any other symptoms? Lethargy, vomiting, loss in appetite. Swelling usually occurs during some sort of infection.

It could be possible that your dogs is in heat and just isn't bleeding. If your dog does not bleeding during her heat cycle she will not be able to conceive.

my boston terrier is going thru her heat cycle and i noticed that her mandibular glands are swollen. this is her third time being in heat and i've never noticed the glands the other two times. could it be possible they are swollen from her being in heat? or might it be another problem?

A dog is able to get pregnant at her first heat cycle if she has bleed. Her cycle will last anywhere from 2-3 weeks, at which she can get pregnant at any time. As far as the age of the dog, it is safest to wait until they are at least 2 years of age.
